Now, a little bit about me...
Following in the footsteps of my late Grandpa, John Kirk, who was a fine, and published classical composer as well as a music teacher, I have continued the family's love of music and encorporated into it an additional love of my own, film.
I have been producing electronic music since the late 1990's and mixing records since 1994. This has lead to releasing tracks on vinyl, exploring the murky and rhythmic worlds of sound experimentation. As a live performer I have played shows in the UK and abroad, which has helped me appreciate near instant feedback from the onlooking audience with regard to various musical pieces and what textures can be involved.
When working with visual imagery through music composition, Foley or sound design, I aim to maximise the impact and direction of the film scene and provide another dimension to what the on-screen story is telling. I can convey through composition, critical suspense dynamics to shock and scare the viewer at appropriate points for horror films, whilst also making beautiful ambient textures for a range of film genres through a mix of orchestral and electronic sounds.
My eclectic taste in music and precise approach, means I research and develop both music production techniques and the stylised content of the sounds which I create, in order to produce a unique and interesting audio experience for myself and the audience.
My delivery of work for project deadlines is impeccable and I aim to far exceed the expectations from the director in everything I create, because that is what I expect from myself.
Most of all, I just love listening to and recording all the everyday sounds which this world has to offer, developing unique new sounds, and making music which can paint a sonic picture to a visual story.
